Prices for law firm websites range from under $50 a month to tens of thousands of dollars up front. The difference is rarely the quality of the pages; it is the business model behind them.
The four common models
| Model | Typical cost | What you get | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIY site builder | $15 to $50/month | A template you assemble yourself | Your time; no legal-specific structure; no practice software |
| Legal directory vendor (FindLaw-style) | $1,000 to $2,000+/month | A managed site plus directory listing | Multi-year contracts; the site is theirs |
| Marketing agency (Scorpion-style) | $2,000+/month plus ad spend | Agency-run site and campaigns | Expensive; built around advertising budgets |
| All-in-one platform | $49/month | Website you own plus practice management and AI intake | One vendor for everything; make sure you can export |
What drives the price up
- Custom photography and copywriting.
- Ongoing SEO and advertising retainers.
- Per-user fees for practice management software bought separately.
- Annual contracts that bundle services you may not use.
What a small firm actually needs
A mobile-first site on your own domain with one page per practice area, attorney profiles, a contact and intake form, ADA/WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, SSL, and a way for enquiries to land in the system where you open matters. For most solo and small firms that is the whole list, and it does not need to cost four figures a month.
