A website that looks fine on your desktop can still be quietly turning prospective clients away. Here are five signs, and the fix for each.
1. It is slow or awkward on a phone
Most people looking for a lawyer search on a phone, often in a stressful moment. If the page takes several seconds to load or the phone number is not tappable, they move on.
2. There is no obvious next step
Every page should make one action obvious: call, book a consultation or send a short form. Say what happens after someone submits it.
3. Enquiries sit in an inbox
A form that emails a shared mailbox gets missed. Enquiries should land in a lead list where someone is responsible for replying the same day.
4. The practice-area pages are generic
"We handle all kinds of cases" tells a visitor nothing. One page per practice area, with the kind of matters you take and what the first conversation looks like, converts far better.
5. It is not accessible
An inaccessible site excludes clients and exposes the firm to ADA complaints. WCAG 2.2 AA should be the default, not an upgrade.
If your site shows more than one of these signs, the fix is usually not a redesign project; it is a platform that gets the basics right and connects enquiries to your practice management.
